Hands-on workshops on a beautiful croft with home-made food and a stunning sea view! Discover traditional crofting skills using willow grown on our croft. Studio shop.

Before the arrival of plastics, willow was grown on all crofts for use in fishing, farming and everyday life. Today, we grow many varieties of willow without the use of artificial pesticides or fertilisers, producing around a quarter of a million rods. In our hands-on workshops we offer the unique opportunity to have a go at learning a traditional craft. Join us and make willow and hazel stools, willow teepee bird houses, or traditional plank-based baskets.

Mull Willow is nestled between sea and mountains. The bay and the sea flank you on the South and the West, and to the East lie the magnificent Burg and Ben More. In the winter months we plant and harvest the willow, cutting everything by hand. In the holiday season we open up the croft, so that people can join us on short courses.

There’s a wood burning stove in the workshop for when it’s chilly, and plenty of seating outside. On all our courses, delicious vegetarian and vegan food is provided at a simple rustic wooden bar in the sunny workshop – from large windows looking out to sea you can watch seals in the bay, wild geese, and buzzards circling overhead. Our workshops are suitable for all levels of ability and experience!

We also have a Studio Shop filled with our greenwood stools, a large range of natural barked baskets, and other willow products we make. When visiting the shop please feel free to take your time, help yourself to a cuppa, and take in the sea views.
